Re: Grundig TK 40 Reel to Reel Checkout
Prior to replacing the bridge rectifier I did a barrage of recording tests. Fairly consistently new recordings on all 3 speeds sounded far too fast (as previously reported) but old recordings always played at the correct speed. Checked all sorts of things but could not fix or understand the issue.
Post replacing the bridge rectifier all 3 speeds now playback new recordings (and old) very well, hard to understand how this can be. The quality of the recordings seems really good even at 1 7/8" ips. David |

Re: Grundig TK 40 Reel to Reel Checkout
After re-assembling the unit, playback and recording still working very well.
There is a metal sprung loaded push button above the Record Key that when pressed releases a plastic tape cleaner piece. 2 felt cleaning pads can be fitted and can be used to clean the tape during fast forward winding. First time I have seen this on board cleaner, more used to the stand alone cleaner that can be used on some of the other Grundig models where the cleaning piece has to be manually fitted and held in place while cleaning the tape.
