Those are pretty hard to find. You best look for a donor unit.

Hello Mick

can you post a picture, and if you have a micrometer, measure the thread diameter?

Not one of the more normal US "fine threads for attachment purposes", but you may be able to find then within the adverts in Model Engineer, or Model Engineers Workshop.

The 3-48 screws in my ARC5 receiver are of a style known as a binder head. They are 3/16 long and all have a internal star washer under them.

This is the place which is usually recommended on the US forums to supply suitable screws - https://www.mcmaster.com/ - unfortunately they will not deal with non-US addresses.

Amazon lists 3-48 screws as do a number of web vendors, which is where I got some, however the original brass style with black oxide coating and lockwasher seems to be unobtainium.

I picked up some US thread screws when last in the US

Home Depot and Lowes and even Walmart had some

Try and find someone going over or coming over here. I dont get there very often or would offer

Seems 3-48 are used on a Gibson guitar and can be found on eBay UK, maybe too long though?

Or just type "3-48 screws in UK " into Google

I think the difficulty can be finding the correct type with 'binder' or 'binding' heads - wider and flatter than most heads. Ordinary round or cheese heads just aren't right, and I'm not sure will fit in the mounting rack.

Tacoma Screw products in Tacoma Washington, USA should have 3-48 screws in stock.
http://www.tacomascrew.com/

Tacoma Screw Products, Inc.
2001 Center St Tacoma Washington USA
(253) 572-3444

I have dealt with them for over 30 years now. Good folks there.
Likely you will not find the screws with black heads or the attached lock washer, but they have surprised me on what they have several times.
Typically the screws come in a container of 50 or 100. They will break containers and sell you just a few also.

Their main store is about 70-80 miles from me.
