Looking at the pictures in posts 1 and 5, I'd say the connections should be:-

Top row of tags.

2nd from right BASE. Centre lead or apex of triangle. Note potential divider and coupling capacitor.
3rd from right COLLECTOR. Note the red spot.

Bottom row of tags.

2nd from right EMITTER.

ok guys I need to replace 4 capacitors for the type plessey electrolytic 50uR 12v dc wkg ce 201 max temp 70.c best replacement and where from thanks bob

47uF @ 25v will be ok.....Axial:

I agree that those Plessey caps are unreliable and should be replaced in the long run.

However that's no reason not to make sure the replacement OC71 is fitted correctly and take a few voltage readings. A battery player isn't going to kill you.

thanks Graham will do , that's one reason I'm into the battery players , and old memories of travelling to the all nighters with my mates , one had a 60s player with it playing from lincoln to manchester in a minivan ! bob
