Hi all,

After swapping the coils I now have the motor working on this turntable. I am having trouble with the speed selector as it is stuck in 45. When I try to change the speed it just knocks between two stuck points and the rod can be seen rocking side to side. I'm not familiar with these turntables so any help would be great. I've tried spraying WD40 which has freed most playing parts but not the actual speed setting.

This a very common problem on this model, although the ones I've had were fine. The full Garrard Manual for this model can be freely downloaded from "The Radio Workshop" via google. Edward

Heat up the mechanism with a soldering iron, get some meths in it, and dismantle before it cools too much, remove all the old grease, then relube with new grease

Thanks for the help. All is freed up and working correctly now. Regarding the motor problem, I managed to find another similar looking garrard motor that used the same coils and with a quick rebuild using the parts from the original motor I managed to get a working motor made up. I believe the motor I used was from a 60s garrard autochanger, just a tip for anyone experiencing the same problem of O/C motor windings.
