HMV Radiogram Model 2342 Speed Calibration
I have almost finished restoring my HMV Radiogram Model 2342.
I cannot find how to calibrate the turntable speed (all speeds are running a little fast). Can it be done? Many thanks. Oliver. |

Re: HMV Radiogram Model 2342 Speed Calibration
Is this fitted with a BSR UA15 deck?
If so there is no speed calibration as such. Some times the motor mounting grommets perish, the motor drops and the idler doesn't sit correctly on the motor pulley.

Re: HMV Radiogram Model 2342 Speed Calibration
This Radiogram is fitted with a BSR C series (C123?) autochanger and as far as I know the speeds on this cannot be varied. Have you tried testing it with a Strobe? If you don't have one it can be downloaded. There is often about a + or - 3% speed variation on these.

Re: HMV Radiogram Model 2342 Speed Calibration
AFAIK, there was never any speed clibration on any BSR, or for that matter, Garrard, Collaro, Philips, or other make of Autochanger. They all used shaded pole AC motors whose rotational speed was/is synchronised to the mains frequency, and, as Edward says a tolerance of maybe +/- 3% of nominal speed was considered acceptable.

I thought that might be the case.
I am using a strobe disc. It is a BSR C109. |
