Default Dynatron SRX60 chassis

I wonder if someone can help me. Amongst my masses of 1970's British Hi Fi, I Also have a lovely Dynatron Audio unit fitted with :-
SRX60 chassis.
Philips 22GC037/59 single-player turntable with GP401 Mk2 cartridge.
CD780 Dolby cassette deck.
Plus a beautiful pair of 3 way Semi Transmission Line speakers with an 8" bass 5" midrange and a 25mm dome tweeter - these speakers sound very nice even compared to eg my TDL transmission line speakers.

My question is does anyone have any info on the SRX receiver, i.e. RMS power output etc. and any info on the speakers.
Regards, Bruce Skelton

You seem to be kicking an empty can here unfortunately Bruce.
It's unusual but it happens. Have you tried some of the more audio devoted forums?
Or try lots of photos, it may jog some old audiophile's grey matter.

There is another recent thread about an SRX60 system, to which I have responded. I have service data somewhere if you are interested. (I wrote it many years ago!) The amplifier is rated at 30 watts RMs per channel at, I think, 0.1%THD.
The speakers - yours are the mahogany versions, I have the san-domingo rosewood contemporary LS3238CR? and the walnut period versions, but I can't remember the model numbers. I'll dig the service data out.
Without repeating myself too much, the drive units in the speakers are made by Danish company Peerless. We thought, at the time, that these were the best speakers we'd made. They are bass reflex enclosures and rated at 50 watts DIN.

Hello all,
I just wanted to thank dalgwcobl for info on these speakers because there is nothing else out there if you do a search for LS3238CR

I have just bought a set in auction because I needed a cheap set of large speakers for non-tinny music in a workshop. They were cheap, and are large!... But more surprising is they don't just sound OK, they are fantastic! Probably a match, if not better than the modern speakers in my house.

I am guessing these must have been quite expensive when new (whenever that was?)

One quick question though, what is the purpose of the cotton wool type material in the port at the top? I thought it was probably the work of a previous owner to tune the bass, but I see the ones pictured in this thread have the same, so must be from factory?

Cheers!

Yes, they are. It was to dampen the bass peaks. Most Dynatron loudspeaker enclosures used (budget) Goodmans units, but these are a shade better. Not many were made.

Thanks Edward, much appreciated.
I haven't seen an enclosure like these. The bass is very controlled and detailed for sure, no boom, so that material must still be doing its job.

Does anyone know anything about the CD780 cassette deck in these machines? Was it a Dynatron built deck or was it sourced from another manufacturer?

These would have been sourced from the Far-East, possibly a Philips associate OEM supplier. Certainly Dynatron never made cassette mechanisms.

Thanks, Edward. Do you know of anywhere I might find a service manual or if they were similar to any other units? Mine needs a bit of TLC...

The circuit diagram & some service info for this range is in the R&TV servicing books, if that helps.

These are rather basic cassette decks, with straightforward push-button interlock mechanisms. There are just 2/3 belts. Keep the heads clean. You can do a basic service on this without reference to a Manual.
