Hi Peter,
this is very kind of you.
I'll sent you the converter when it is build in the sat receiver cabinet
and a kit without cxl's as soon as possible. (Peter has cxl's.)

Kind regards
Darius

Gidday,
here are the short descriptions for the ccd and the clock board.
Many thanks to Peter Scott
The values for the cxl 5508 m are verified the ones for the cxl 5506 m will be when I build one up. I'll sent the build up converter kit to GB soon, so that it can be testet on different sets. I think I'll add a London modulator to show you the easy handling.

Suggestiones are welcome!
If you have questions please fell free to ask here.

Kind regards
Darius

Question Re: 405 analogue standard converter kit

Hi, I hope the description helps you understanding what's going on.

Where are the people who toled it is much easyer to use opamps than
discrete transistors?

Kind regards

Hello all.

I recently joined this excellent group and I'm really keen on building the Darius Standards converter so I can display off-air pictures on my 405 line sets.
Like others, I am having difficulty obtaining the CXL5508 ccds and the 74HCT4059 counter ics but I'm not too worried about that at the moment. I'm currently awaiting delivery of the CXL ics from a back order (if they turn up!). Should these ics arrive then I will of course mention the suppliers name for the benefit of other members.
If the PCBs are not readily available then perhaps access to the copper foil artwork would be helpful so I can make my own boards. I did contemplate having a go using FreePCB but I think that was a little ambitious and very time consuming. The package is sufficiently advanced to do this but there is a considerable learning curve in using it.
I appreciate that readily available converters are on the market now at very favourable prices but the challenge of building your own and learning a great deal in the process can't be beaten.

Regards
Symon.

Symon, welcome to the forum. Even if you don't intend to buy an Aurora converter it's worth downloading the manual which has a lot of useful information about standards conversion.

If you are interested and don't have the relevant issues of the BVWS Bulletin I can email you copies of my articles about standards conversion. I think they may be somewhere in the archives on this site.

Hi Symon,
I have made a small quantity of PC boards. All ICs are available.
If you need something, let me know.
I ordered the cxl ICs as replacement parts (expensive),
I am a Radio and TV serviceman.

Kind regards,
Darius

Symon

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send the articles. The PM system doesn't allow attachments.
