Default FT227r

Hello,
I have an old FT227r (Memorizer) which was working very well.
It has developed a fault whereby the readout counts up to 154 or 155.390 and then jumps to .800, it then carries on up to .999. This happens when changing frequency in either direction.
It all seems to work OK on the displayed frequencies.
Can anyone give me a lead where to look and suggest a possible course of action.
Thanks.
