This looks like power supply but unsure. Found nothing on the net. The "valve" I understand say Tungar full wave.
Any thoughts? Thank you.

'Tungar' was a trade name for a TUNgsten filament, ARgon gas filled rectifier valve. They were normally used for low-ish voltage fairly high current applications, like battery chargers I think.

Thank you Tony. Now if I could decide if it was indeed a battery charger.

I know practically nothing about model railways beyond that they have tracks, and model trains that go round on them, but the only references I can find to Shenphone - there's no mention of it as a radio industry trademark in my 1933-37 Broadcaster annuals - are to its being a supplier of model railway apparatus:
https://www.binnsroad.co.uk/railways...one/index.html and https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=137302 , post #16 onwards. Obvious question, then: was there a model railway application for this type of low voltage rectified power supply? Paul |
