Default Smiths Sectric 24” clock

Hi there, new to this forum and fascinated by all the items that are still in working use. I’ve recently inherited a 24” Smiths sectric clock and would like it restored and to use it in our house. However, I don’t know if it’s working as it’s lacking the flex and plug and even if it is working, I lack the practical experience to undertake a full restoration (including - perhaps controversially - repainting the metal surround and face, and strip down of the motor, etc.

If there anyone who has experience of this work that could be recommended? I have spoken to some clock restorers but none seem interested other than converting to quartz. We’d like to keep it and use it but in it’s current state it doesn’t meet our needs.
