Default Norton 4.5.

In my last return to college , I acquired an old PC, something like a 286, with a few programs on board, running something like Windows 3. One very useful program was Norton 4.5, able to sort out misbehaving floppies etc.
One useful program was one that run in DOS and could act as a menu on startup, and other interesting features.
im trying to convert the file to an ISO , so if anyone would like a copy, give me a shout(PM) .

That sounds a bit like Norton Commander, a kind of File explorer / Menu Shell.
and a few people I knew were quite fond of it back in the early 1990's, when DOS 5 / 6 was mostly used, with most programs running on that so only occasional use of Windows 3.1(1).

A similar program that I and many others used back then was XTree(Gold), and should still have a copy on a very-old PC / Floppy Disk.

I remember when we got our hands on Norton Utilities version 1.0

In particular the unerase command which undeleted files was like magic and saved several of us from ourselves at the time.

I don't recall using many of the other commands at all - the product was worth its price many times over for unerase.
