You could measure his brightness/loudness/mod level, or his current voltage?

I was going to set them up to show levels of sound and voltage, he is six and we are into building with the experimenter kits and checking his batteries on an AVO, it will allow me to move him on to indicating devices and developing simple circuits shortly.

Looks like they're yours Chris. I had expected a clamour for them as they are very useful for those of us who can't just knock up a PIC and LCD display for graphical display of levels. In the days when you could get LM3914s and LED arrays from Maplin I used a few for dedicated test units, and even added a pair to a Lowe HF rx to measure FM deviation and centre frequency setting of CB rigs
