Default Diode, Triode and Hexode - what do these mean?

I'm fairly new to the forum and would like to thank all the members for their help so far.

I have one question, what's the deal with all these diodes and triodes that appear alongside each members name? I assume it's some sort of hierarchy but I'd like to know how it works, what are the rules etc. Not that's it's a competition, it's just interesting and fun!

Thanks.

All forums that use vBulletin software will display something similar depending on your post count. The terms displayed are defined by the forum administrator when configuring the forum.

For a totally unrelated forum that uses the same software platform, see here.

This is the post counts for the different titles

User Title - Minimum Posts
New Member - 0
Diode - 1
Triode - 10
Tetrode - 50
Pentode - 100
Hexode - 250
Heptode - 500
Octode - 1000
Nonode - 2000
Dekatron - 3000

We probably need another one for 5000+ now...

We could get clever and go for a single cavity Magnetron for say 10,000 posts, and then increase this by the number of cavities - think 8 cavities would be the maximum - good for 80,000 posts......

So Klystron at 5,000 and Magnetron at 10,000 for now? I'll be a while before we need to go higher than that.

I think the question has been answered now, so we'll close the thread before the post count gets to EABC80 proportions.
