Default BVWS Special auction 3rd Feb Royal Wootton Bassett

At Royal Wootton Bassett Memorial Hall, Nr Swindon, SN4 8EN on Sunday 3rd February we'll be holding a Special Auction-only event.
400 lots comprising vintage radio, television, communications, audio, test gear, valves, components, books, magazines, ephemera, etc. will be going under the hammer. Hall open for viewing at 9am, auction to start at 10.30am. Hot and cold refreshments are available throughout the day and we will take a break for lunch. There won't be any stalls or bring and buy table at this event (other than the BVWS table) there simply won't be room or time to trade.

For location and directions, see: https://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.php

If you haven't yet renewed your BVWS membership for 2019, you'll need to do so to gain entry to the event and obtain a bidding card, so visit: https://membership.bvws.org.uk

Please renew your membership to save time on the day, as you will be unable to renew and obtain a bidding card once the auction has started......

Members may bring a visitor. Only members may bid, however visitors can join the Society on the morning (and subsequently be valid to bid) but before 10am please at the auction table.

We will have the usual selection of kit to suit all tastes and eras but I do know that there is a large quantity of 100 yr old plus equipment on offer, an auction list with some photos will be published a little nearer the time.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

This should be a good one.

I am pretty much up to date with online and postal renewals and I will do a last check on Saturday 2nd to ensure everyone who has renewed online or by post by that date is valid on the main database.

Please try to renew before then, thanks.

The 400 lot auction list, with about 200 photographs will be available on the BVWS website (and via a link here) over the coming weekend, Mike is working very hard getting everything ready....

There is a large amount of rarely seen/rarely offered First World War equipment in particular, which has all come from a large collection and has been kept in superb condition.

The auction catalogue and photos of many of the lots are now available on the BVWS website here: https://www.bvws.org.uk/auctions/pho...ootton-bassett

The catalogue is also attached to this post.

There will be a couple more photos added in the next day or two, Mike is waiting for them from the vendor.

Ooooh!

A Bruel & Kjaer audio sweep oscillator!
You don't see those very often.

With the matching plotter they produced the frequency response plots that were in every hifi review in the 60s and 70s.

I still have a 2010 in use in my workshop (and a shelf full of redundant chart recorders), and also noticed that one in the list. It combines the BFO, measuring amplifier, and heterodyne analyser in one box. Unusual to see one available with both the manuals, plus a proper B&K cable or two.

There's a remarkable amount of WW1-era wireless equipment in that list - the auctioneers may be in for an exciting day...

The part of the T1154 transmitter has clearly been kept.boxed all this time...no fading on the colours which are stunningly bright. Worth buying just for that, it makes mine look monochrome.

Hi All,

Just a quick weather update for tomorrow's BVWS auction at (RWB) Royal Wootton Bassett.

All the main A roads around RWB are clear, gritted and running well.
The M6, M5, M4 and M3 motorways are all clear and running fine.

There will be some ice and remains of snow on country lanes and some smaller B roads so avoid those and keep to main routes.

The auction will be going ahead with opening for viewing at 09:00

Auction starts at approx 10:30

Hot food and drinks as well as sandwiches etc. will be available all day.

I look forward to seeing you all there,

Mike...

Hi All,

Due to weather conditions, I have been contacted by the seller of the three motor tuned radios who has informed me that they will not be available!

lot 259 HMV model 1200 Motor tuned Receiver.

lot 355 EKCO model PB515 Motor tuned Receiver.

lot 390 HMV model 657 Motor tuned Receiver.

However, they will be offered in the March 3rd Harpenden Auction.

Mike...

Thanks to all the team. It was a very interesting day and great to meet up with everyone. The catering was up to its normal high standards.

It was a great day and good to see so many turn up despite the weather!

The first picture was Saturday when we set the Auction up. We had to push the van and two cars out!

The second picture shows the van - we pushed it back up with me supervising!

The third picture shows Sunday, and I don't think there had been any bumps or scraps but we still had to push a few out. Thanks to all who helped.
