My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
I couldn't find a scan of the battery (Vidor L5550) so I made an image cobbled together from other battery scans and added any missing script etc.
The inner box is made of styrene sheet obtained from broken CD cases cut with a knife and glued together with model makers 'Liquid Poly' which works well if you leave it long enough to harden. The printing is only on paper for this trial but I will now print on card to make it stronger. It's a tight fit in the radio but it works. |

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
That does look good - I started a mock-up in cardboard for mine and it did look a very tight fit. Already I have some better assembly tips - never thought of CD cases. The freestyle artwork is convincing enough.
The big question for me is what did you do for the connector? - it looks like Paxolin sheet in there. Regards, SR |

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
It was a paxolin octal valve holder with some unused sockets removed. Filled the centre with epoxy and drilled a new hole for the locating pin.

Nice work! I've got two of these sets awaiting attention, and you've given me some inspiration.
Would you be willing to share the artwork?

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
Happy to share Phil. It's a Microsoft Publisher file and prints on 2 x A4 sheets.

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
Can't upload a .pub file so converted to a Pdf.
The long tab on page 2 is to allow a join of the two halves. Although it looks to be the same colour on screen the logo etc. taken from another source from which the background colour was copied, always prints a slightly different colour. Not too noticeable though. Mine was printed using a laser printer. |

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
Just to say that I've printed out the images on my inkjet printer and they have come out perfectly, with no visible variation in colour.
I also found this by Mike Watterson. Thanks again.

Re: My Battery for a Vidor Lady Anne
That is a very nice job indeed. I have one of these sets, it is one of the most favourite in my collection. I restored it to working order earlier this year with the help of Phil G4SPZ and others on the forum. So far I have only used it on mains, but this thread provides lots of inspiration.
