The trolley ban is all to do with fire and health and safety regulations. The isles can become very busy a peak times with people alone, without any other obstructions.

If there were any incidents, someone taken ill for example, the medical team will need to get to them and get the person out. Likewise, in the event of a fire alarm, there would be over 1000 people to evacuate very quickly from the hall.

We have to both comply and of course respect the regulations of the Warwickshire Event Centre.

St. John's Ambulance staff are on duty for the duration of the event.

Let's hope that we all have a safe and happy event!

All perfectly sensible and understandable - it's just that I couldn't see any mention of it this year.
Thanks for confirming.

Default M1 Closed this weekend

For those who missed it the M1 will be closed J23A to J24 on Sat 12th and Sun 13th May until 3pm hopefully. This is for the construction of a bridge. Heavy congestion expected in area. This is for anyone travelling from the north to the NVCF.

Hello,
Re trolleys. Last year I was told I could leave my trolley by the security guard checking people at the entrance to the fair proper.
Yours, Richard

It's the first time I've been, and it was a very enjoyable day out. I arrived for the 9am opening and did a quick scan over most of the stalls. By the time I returned to the items I was interested in, some had already sold! Nevertheless I'm pleased with what I bought. Post what you bought, and why. Here's what I brought home, should keep me busy for many months!

Phillips N1500 VCR. I'm interested in early video formats. This will fit nicely with the Sony u-matic and the Panasonic NV870 in my collection that both work well. The N1500 will need quite a clean out before I even attempt to run it as there seems to be lots of white mouldy stuff inside, and the head doesn't rotate smoothly when I push it around using a finger. I like the Phillips 1970's style to the machine.

Trio KA-2000A amplifier for no other reason that I just like early 1970's Japanese HiFi.

Leak Trough Line Stereo FM Tuner. Mid 1960's? The intention was to buy 'something' with valves as I've never had any valve equipment before. Will make a nice companion for the Trio.

And finally a Radiomobile in-car 8-track player. To complete my collection of tape formats, I needed an example of an 8-track. I will finally be able to play some 8 track cartridges I bough from e-bay a while back.

I didn't get there until around 11:30am, but I wasn't really there to buy things. The hall seemed really busy at that time, through until about 3pm.

I did buy a couple of random bits, none of then especially vintage. A Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse set (as new), a Panasonic Sky digibox (just because it's silver so won't look as out of place as my current white Pace one) and one of those Radio 1 radios for a friend who liked mine when he saw it (it was hos 20th birthday last week so it's a late birthday present). I sold the Memorex CD player in the bring-and-buy too.

It was great to meet up with around 18-20 forum members at our informal gathering at 2pm. Greg took a photo of about 12 of us which I will share when he's sent it to me.

Attached photo shows the busy hall at 1:10pm.

Popped in for a couple of hours this morning - Picked up a couple of bits from the B and B, but otherwise very little of interest for me - I tend to gravitate to the military stuff or test equipment.

Had a nose at the machinery on the Brimar stand - I work with Gas as well as electricity - that looks to be one scary bit of kit! I wish them well in trying to get that lot recommissioned!

Bumped into several people I knew, nice to have a short natter with each of them, but didn't hang around for that long SWMBO had other ideas.....

Had a very successful day, sold almost everything ( except a telephone and a few 50p bits), bought one valve and some reading material. Result - more space at home! And a surprisingly full wallet!
My attitude is that what I paid for something 10 years ago is irrelevant; making space is more important than making a profit - it's a hobby, and hobbies cost money, just some more than others.
Many thanks to all the people who give up so much of their time to these events for our enjoyment!

Hi all

Not been able to get to the NVCF for a few years so it was nice to get there this time.

Enjoyed the 1400 informal meet and put a few names to faces as well as a quick natter.

As usual a big thanks to the organisers who did a very impressive job, as witnessed by a visiting Canadian who could not believe how quickly to queue to get in was dealt with at such a large event!

Great to see the Brimar boys trying to get a good thing going I for one wish them well.

Selling wristbands to people as they queue saves so much time and hassle when doors open, it benefits the organisers and visitors.

Had a great day, picked up a Faga Model 49 battery receiver for 1, but the case may be scrap, a Vidor CN414, a Weston multimeter, a VCR97 from Junkbox Nick, a D32 scope from Hamish Boxer, thanks to both, and a load of other junk. Nice to put a face to some forum members and to meet Paul Stenning.

Another great NVCF, so thanks to all concerned!

I bought three Hifi magazines, two CDs and...er...two Strathearn turntables.
