Bit off topic, I'm afraid - but it's core is the dated nature of the Trade Test films.

The house is in Cambridge Road West, Farnborough. The circle of houses is Church Circle, which looks remarkably unchanged since the film was made (the clutter of ugly modern cars aside!).
I see the garage on Google maps now - a Gulf petrol station. Thank you.

If you go to this below, then go about 22 minutes into the clip you will find the track with the simulated dog bark at the end. This piece was played with the BBC2 test card just before 'Play School' coming up to 11am in the mornings.

What was the TCF that started something like 'at times the north Sea is like a mill pond' and what was the one that showed the Dutch incinerator plant where just about everything went in and only scrap metal came out?

I have collected several CD's of test card music that were used by ITV. I'll dig them out and pass the information.

Quote Rambo1155 "Kiddies Kapers", played by "Pat Prilly" according to the comments.

After that awful Kiddie's Kapers thing the next piece at 24:20 is the Gemini Suite which was composed by Johnny Pearson of Sounds Orchestral fame.

Default Live in 'The Home Made Car' house!

We went past this morning, its for sale. Surely the ultimate TV collectable, only half a million pounds to you sir... When the one next door comes up you can buy that too and clear the site, get it back to how it was.

Tell me about it, we are a few streets back and you can still check the tread on their tyres if you stand on the garage roof as they go over...

Hi Tim [Mr B+O]. I think it should be mentioned that you're referring to the Trade Test Transmissions thread [May 18th] and the location for one of those great films [in your neck of the woods]. I was scratching my head at first, despite being a contributor to it [Perhaps someone can do a link to You Tube?] As for rising prices-well that's what the whole economy and now the city of London is based on They say that what goes up must come down but I suspect we will be in trouble either way. Would the owners want to consider a plaque on the wall I wonder? It might raise the value

Cheers,

Dave

Don't forget the tyre pressures.
It is under the end of the runway they approach so it is the last chance to check the tyres before they land.
When we lived in that neck of the woods we had a top floor place on Lynchford road above a shop so not quite under the end of the runway but still close enough to watch the air show for free.

I can't say that I remember it, but I've found a reference to it.

https://www.bvws.org.uk/405alive/inf...tradefilms.htm

THE RIVAL WORLD

A Shell Film
24 minutes duration
First showing 8th November 1962
Final showing 21st August 1967
Depicts the human struggle against hunger and sickness. Insects outnumber man by 50 million to one and are man's rival for food. Man has interfered with the balance of nature and now can only come to terms with his rivals by using organised scientific methods of control. Examples are drawn from many parts of the world, including the desert locust in East Africa and the use of aircraft against them.
Music by James Stevens.
Made In 1955.
