Bakelite knobs:Machining
Has anyone tried (successfully) to machine a bakelite knob on a lathe down to a required diameter? I would guess right speed and cutting tool would be critical

It is quite easy, cuts nicely too. Use a carbide tip and shallow cuts. While on the lathe rub down with wet and dry (use wet) down to 1200 grit, saves loads of time later.

Re: Bakelite knobs:Machining
Well - this morning I am the proud owner of two replica knobs which will grace the front of the Murphy A3 I am restoring. This is due to the speedy help and skilled workmanship of MM.
Many thanks MM! Tony |
