What is the significance of the different colours for the E2? I have seen grey and cream ones with red or black logo.

I think the Grey ones were later models.

My E2 has light grey panel, black logo etc, and dark grey box. It is the later version of the E2, with miniature valves. The earlier ones (cream panel, red logo?) used some octals.

I bought it second-hand a few months ago. As others have found, it seems to retain its calibration remarkably well. Mine has a noisy output level pot, which I need to look into one day.

I've had a couple of cream E2's - one of them never had the cover on the "full RF" socket, the other one did.
If you look at the picture on the 1951 period advert on here it has no cover, either.
The (later) Advance B4A I use now is grey, so it seems that the grey E2 must be later than the cream ones.
