Well, I'm hoping to make it too, although work is more than usually hectic so I may end up working the weekend instead.

I'm looking to making new acquaintances as well as renewing old ones. Always good to put a face to the name.

Like Mike I will be wearing a badge.

Regards,

That was for me Dave, and very helpful it was, I'll be there as well with a badge on, and hopefully see you and some other forum members as well.

Not wanting to repeat earlier posts it does state on the BVWS site that this is a members only event. Is this correct or can non members pay on the door.

The normal arrangement with BVWS events is that you can join the BVWS at the door. They do not admit non-members because of insurance reasons etc, and because the events are a member benefit.

I too will be attending this event. I probably shouldn't take my wallet.... But I will!
I will be helping another forum & BVWS member and maybe make use of his blood-hound nose for interesting sets.

To save time it would be worth printing off the membership form from the BVWS website and filling that out before you go.

I shall be going up, if anybody needs anything to go from the Southampton area to the meeting (or anything bringing back), it needs to be with me by about 2pm on Saturday 22nd.

I already have a large quantity of stuff for Dave Moll!

Jim.

Hello again folks, The reason I'm asking is that I've promised "Mark the Mender" from Warrington - two "7" series scopes for free spares.I've had a post in "Transport" for ages, but no luck.
I'd dearly would have liked to go down, but unfortunately cant make it. Shall go to a Scottish event next spring/summer, if/and when proposed.
I'm under a lot of marital pressure to remove these two scopes from our hallway, but I've nowhere else warm & dry to store them.

Regards, David

Some info on how to find the place. (Easy.)

There's a map which can move in and out here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...num=1&ct=image

If you're coming from a distance, you come off the M6 at J23 and head towards Manchester on the A580 (Known locally as the East Lancs Road.). Take the A572 (Sign posted to Lowton and there is also a sign for the Civic Hall) and keep going until you see another sign on the left for the Civic Hall. Turn left and at the end of the road there it is, parking and all.

Coming the other way, leave the M60 at Worsley and head north on the A575. This joins the A580 and you turn left. Head for the A572 and carry on as above.

Cheers,

Steve P.

Did I just dream it, or did you used to be able to bring a non-BVWS guest along with you to these things? A mate of mine would like to go but doesn't want to join until January, as one of the main reasons he wants to join is to be able to go to these events, and he'll have missed out on the majority of them if he joins for the remainder of this year.

Thanks everyone.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

BVWS members can take one guest plus kids. It's intended to allow members to take their partners and children etc, but non-member collector friends would be allowed too (especially if they are interested in becoming a member).

Your mate may be able to join from Jan 2009 now, and still get into this event as a member rather than as your guest. I think there is some flexibility for people joining at events towards the end of the year.

Take him along and see what you can sort out on the day.

A very good day out! Many thanks to Mark (do it again please), the BVWS and all the others involved.

I thought a good attendance, especially on such a filthy day. A great opportunity to put faces to names and meet some existing friends.

I will certainly be supporting any future venture in this area.
