Default Repair wanted to Marconi TF1041 Meter Movement, Loose Glass & Balancing Please!

Hi!

. . .Because of all the gathering pile of tape–recorders in the shed, I'm having to try and resurrect the Marconi TF1041B Valve Voltmeter with it's Loose Meter Glass Saga – I've been trying to stick it back for hours and I'm getting nowhere, and I think it's because the meter bezel is slightly bowed outwards at the edges!

. .I don't have a vice, or soft jaws, etc., and I've tried sticking the glass back with Evo–Stik, Super glue, Gorilla Glue Gel (Green cap) etc., etc., but no matter how much I try to hold it at one side it pings off from the other because the plastic bevel has warped with age!

. . .Is there any Member who's got a vice, soft jaws, etc., a steady hand and who's amenable.to having a go at sticking this back and clamping It together for me please?

. . .As well as the glass re–fixing, the Pointer needs rebalancing, it swings below zero whenbthe instrument placed is placed on its back and nearly half f.s.d. when the instrument is stood up!

. . .I think the balancing coil may actually be inside the movement loose, I can hear some tiny object move when I move the meter itself!

. . .If any Member is amenable to salvaging this movement for me, or can supply another dead, damaged, or too low sensitivity TF1041 movement with a secure front glass, I can try swapping the movement over – I know my movement isn't o/c as the "Common Zero" control will swing it over from zero to f.s.d.!

Default Re: Repair wanted to Marconi TF1041 Meter Movement, Loose Glass & Balancing Please!

Mods, An update on this request – I have been able to secure the glass on my movement with three strips of neoprene rubber, solving one problem, but the meter still requires balancing with the balance coil replacing or refitting – could the Mods amend the title to :–

"Repairs to TF1041B Mater Movement Needed, Rebalancing wanted Please".
