Default Garrard SP25 MK3.

Hi, I have started a service on my old SP25/3 and taken off the turntable. The next is the main gear cam, but it will not shift off the shaft. The circlip has been removed and I do not want to use too much force. Is it likely to be the hard grease issue?

Hello and welcome.

Yes it is! Use some WD40 and heat from a hairdryer. Don't force things or you'll loosen the post which the cam rotates on.

I usually heat the cam with a powerful hairdryer then when its really hot gently lever it up with two flat bladed screwdrivers under the cam.

Do not force anything, keep heating until it does come off.
