Is anyone familiar with R S capacitors? Does anyone know if they're still around and if they can be found, company history, etc?? Thanks.

Re: RS capacitors
RS = RadioSpares.
They were a big name in the 1960s, supplying all kinds of replacement parts for the TV and radio repair trade. They still exist: http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/ho...eturningUser=N Nick. |

Re: RS capacitors
Hello, yes agree with Nick RS= Radiospares, however I don't think they ever actually manufactured capacitors themselves but being a large distributor, components often were re-branded RS but made by various makers.

Re: RS capacitors
RS (Radio Spares) don't make anything. RS do contract suppliers to produce RS branded products to their requirements, and RS often brand manufacturer's components as their own, although this now tends to be for batteries, tools and test equipment, for example.

Re: RS capacitors
Re electrolytics, the early grey caps with a swirly 'radiospares' logo and flying man look just like contemporary Plessey ones. The 1970/80's violet ones are Dubilier for sure. There are others!

Re: RS capacitors
Polystyrenes supplied by RS are made by LCR Capacitors in Wales...
In the 70s when I was a designer at Marconi Instruments we were forbidden to use RS components as they weren't tracable by the manufacturer. Might have been why RS relented a bit and now state who the manufacturers are? John. |
