Default Central Rediffusion Services info

Looks very interesting, anyone know anything about it. I have looked but found no info. I haven't seen it yet and the photos aren't great. Has an early Garrard 4 speed deck (88/4 ?) and assume there is a single amp in there. Looks very substantial, any info much appreciated. sorry about the pictures.
Thanks
Simon

I used to work for part of the Rediffusion Group, way back in the early 60's. I've not seen one of these gram/amplifier units before, but I do know that CRS and Reditune used to supply background music systems to industry. I did once have various bits of Reditune amplifiers & also the Rediffusion 1/4" continuous-loop tape players -(manufactured in St. Helier, Jersey, C.I.). Your unit may have come from Hanworth, where RIS used to be.

Have you tried the Rediffusion Memories website? There are a number of contributors on there that might be able to give you some info.

David.

Rediffusion used to manufacture and install PA systems: this may well have been the core part of one. I recall my ex-colleague Rupert Neve recounting anecdotes from his time there in the 1950s: he worked for Rediffusion before branching out on his own first with CQ Audio, then the Neve studio mixing desk business.

It was Rediffusion who supplied the PA systems for the South Bank Festival of Britain in 1951: I recall Rupert telling me of the amplifier spec, which was push-pull throughout like a Decola. The attached South Bank photo shows, to the left of the tree, a splendid array of a couple of dozen straight horn PA speakers.

Thanks David and Martin
I'll try the website , I thought it was some sort of PA amplifier but having the record player with it confused me abit, I'll hopefully get a closer look sometime this week.
The festival picture is fantastic.
Thanks
Simon
