Re: Steepletone 5002D
Given that the fuse has been bypassed with a couple of strands of wire, I wonder if it's a bitsa fuse with the glass body taken from one fuse and the end cap from another?

I just would like say to ALL of you guys out there a Big Thank You.
She works. I orderded two Styluses from The Stylus Lady, and they arrived so fast, within 24 hours. So Thank You again sooooooooo much, I feel 14 again. You have put a smile on this old boys face. Just one more question, the records are playing slow a bit on 45 and 33. can I fix this?? Is the a screw or something inside that i can turn to speed up the turntable Alan |

Re: Steepletone 5002D
The circuit board located between the motor and the mains transformer may be a speed controller. There's a hole through it which may provide access to a speed control potentiometer. I suggest that you remove the single self tapping screw securing the board and see what's on the component side.

Re: Steepletone 5002D
Actually I can see the pot.
Note its position before adjusting it. printing out a strobe disc will help you get the setting correct.

This controls the speed of the turntable?

Re: Steepletone 5002D
The pot in your third picture is the speed control.

Re: Steepletone 5002D
Yes, that's it. You just put a small screwdriver in the the slot at the centre of the circle and turn it very carefully in either direction. Your can download a PDF of a Stroboscope. Search "Turntable Speed Stroboscope". Print it out. Then set your 45 and 33 speeds against that. As there is only the one speed control Potentiometer, you may have to settle for a compromise between the two.

Re: Steepletone 5002D
By small, we mean very small. You may have to file one down, the pot is fragile. A plastic knitting needle or similar will do.

Re: Steepletone 5002D
For anybody who is curious, a google search for 'TCA910 datasheet' (no quotes) produced a link for just that. This explains what the IC (looks like a power transistor) on the PCB does and the included application circuit is going to be close to the circuit in that unit.
