Oh dear. Just about to box the set up and I heard a horrible sizzling noise with bad line-tearing. Now no picture and no EHT. Plenty HT, good -ve pulses to the g1 and plenty screen grid voltage to the PL81. No other obvious faults measured so far. I'm pussy-footing round the lopty and I still have a few things to check but I fear the worst might have happened.

If the overwind has died then perhaps an overwind-ectomy combined with a doubler / tripler circuit may be required.

What a and it was such a good picture. Hope the sizzling is something that can be fixed such as EHT wire breaking down and not the LOPTX.

Looks like an exact repeat of what happened to mine. Mike rewound it, very good job and it has worked well since over a long period. Very frustrating when you have spent so long on the chassis. J.

I had this happen my v510. Used a thorn 1400 trippler in place of the over wind, only for the primary to fail 6 weeks later. Best of luck with it.

Cheers,
John Joe.

Thanks for the replies Frank, John and John.

I think I may well get the trannie sent down to Mike. I think it's probably worth getting going again after all the hassle with that cogging issue.

Thanks all.

Kind regards.

From Mike.
