Hacker Cavalier GP15 buzz
About 15-20 seconds after you switch the player on it starts. Sounds pretty much like a wasp- about the same pitch and buzzing. Doesn't increase or decrease by adjusting the volume control. Looked at other posts. Mains capacitors?

Yes, both will need to be replaced - they are probably in the one can. Edward

Re: Hacker Cavalier GP15 buzz
The volume control is at the start of the amplifier chain so there could be a number of reasons. You need to do some standard fault finding before changing any part.
If the reservoir/smoothing capacitors are leaking or bulged they will require replacement but they many not fix the fault. What fault finding, test equipment and experience do you have?

Re: Hacker Cavalier GP15 buzz
Check the g1 coupling capacitors to the output valves, they will probably not be the cause of the buzz but if faulty can damage output valves, transformer etc, lots to check on an old device.
