I play a pre-recorded tape of something like the Fleetwood Mac and ask my son to strum along on his guitar, he tells me when the cassette is adjusted right.

That's roughly the way I've always done it.
If you're a bit of a musician then you can play a tape of something that you know is in a particular 'key' and then check whether you can play along to it on an instrument that you know is properly tuned - always worked for me. |
