Battery set P.S.U.
Hi again,I have three particular battery sets I would like to do a p.s.u.for. They are aPhilco 333, a Marconi 39 and a Marconi 44. Would it be possible to construct a unit that would encompass all three sets. Thanks again Dick.

Re: Battery set p.s.u.
What are the voltage and current requirements? (to save me looking them up).

Re: Battery set p.s.u.
In one word, yes.
How many different rails it would need to provide will determine how complex it may need to be. Back to Station X's question......

Re: Battery set P.S.U.
The voltages are all the same. 120 volt D.C. 2 volt .1 amp filament. Thanks, Dick.

Re: Battery set P.S.U.
So, just two supplies, HT 120V and filament 2V. How much current for each?
Add up all the valve anode and screen currents and also the filament currents. If only one set at a time is to be powered just use the highest figures for any of the sets, if all together, add up the lot!

Re: Battery set P.S.U.
I modified an old Ekco AC25 battery eliminator. Well actually I only used the case and plug panel in the end.
see thread here. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=134336 most of the useful detail is on the second page. Mike |

Re: Battery set P.S.U.
I bought a kit recently from eBay for a 'nixie tube power supply' which is supposed to output up to 150v (it's variable) at 30mA. I haven't built it yet but the quality of the PCB and components look okay. The circuit looks like an IC driving a mosfet and in turn a toroidal choke- presumably it rectifies the flyback voltage to get the output. I bought this to run a WS38 I'm restoring; of course one's first thought is that it will generate a lot of RF noise but I was prepared to have a go at screening and decoupling it.
I might crack on and build it and see what it's like because these might be handy for battery valve sets. I have a Pye P114BQ somewhere in the 'To Do' pile!
