Default Elliptical speaker wanted

I have completed the (electrical) restoration of my RAS 551 (Strad 553 in 511 case) only to find that the speaker is distorting at anything above very low volume. I have confirmed this with an external speaker when it sounds just fine.

Does anyone have an elliptical speaker like the one in the photo? (just the speaker, the transformer is OK)
The overall size of the frame is 6.5in by 4 inches. The mounting holes are on 4in and 3.75in centres.
I think the impedance is 4 ohm as it measures 3 ohm resistance.

Happy to pay a reasonable price and postage.

Peter

Will it not repair? If the cone is intact and the rear diaphragm undamaged it should be fixable. If there is a rear diaphragm, is it detached, that will let the coil go out of center
Pick the dust cover off the center and try blowing out the gap, a piece of paper wiped in the gap may remove whatever is fouling the coil.

If no-one comes up with anything, I've had a few Altai elliptical speakers from 'yourspares' (UK based) which have been excellent. They're 8 Ohms rather than 4 Ohm, but I don't that would be critical. They do two elliptical sizes, one is 7.49, the other 5.99 and they're post free. (Royal Mail 2nd Class). All the dimensions and pictures are shown:

Hope that might help if needs be.

Good luck in your quest Peter.

Thanks both, I'll try your suggestions Sam, nothing to lose. It may be rust, I've noticed water staining on the back of the diaphram.
The larger of the two Altai speakers you suggest David looks like it will fit if its not fixable.

Peter,

This looks similar. It's 2.7 ohms. 6.25" x 4.3" holes at 4.75" which you could probably adapt. Yours FOC together with a 7C6 if you'd like to collect from L'hampton.
