Default Small 0.5A Variac

Not enough to run a radio from, but OK for a small 0-320ish v un-regulated variable HT supply? Pics suggest windings might have an iffy spot on them - looks alright in the flesh and works OK so far as I can measure. £10 for Christian aid plus post at cost?
cheers
Mark

Remember they're autotransformers, not isolating.

0.5A is 120W and would power most small valve radios. A DAC90 for example uses a 200mA heater chain and maybe another 100mA for the DC supply allowing for the non-resistive load.
