Default Rexine... to paint or dye?

I am working on a Marconi 237 which has a black Rexine covered case with chrome fittings. I had to repair the structure of the case and apart from the seams where the sides join together the Rexine is generally in good condition but "tired" looking. I want to either spray paint or dye the case in order to primarily tidy up the seams and secondly to refresh the covering.

I was thinking to use a shoe dye or spray paint the surface, any thoughts on what would be the best approach?

Thanks,
Paul.

Start with dye, you can always spray it afterwards, not the other way round!

The liquid shoe polish does a good job on Rexine HTH

If you are only wanting to retouch rips etc then black magic markers are ideal. I usually follow this with a rub down with either a silicone shoe polishing pad or Mer bumper gel(as sold by Halfords). The results are excellent.

For large areas black shoe dye would be good.

Edit: I have also had good results with liquid shoe polishes.

Thanks for the recommendations, I will try the black dye to begin with.
