Transmitter for skeleton phone handset
Hi All
I am restoring an old Ericsson Skeleton telephone ( i.e. similar to the GPO telephone no 16 ). The transmitter in the hand set has been removed and the modern no 21a which can be used in the 200 / 300 series handsets is too big for the smaller transmitter housing of the skeleton phone type handset. Does anyone know of a smaller modern type device which will fit into this type of handset. Thanks Trev |

Re: Transmitter for skeleton phone handset
Hi,
Have you removed the 21A transmitter from it's housing as detailed in the following link? http://www.britishtelephones.com/tranchan.htm Apologies if you have already tried this. Sometimes the THG group can be quite helpful with old phones and may even be able to source an original transmitter for you their site is http://groups.google.com/group/thgdiscussion?hl=en-GB but you have to become a member to post messages. Re: Transmitter for skeleton phone handset
I had a similar problem with a candlestick telephone until having removed not only the outer case but also the inner case - leaving just the exposed circuit board with small round transmitter element attached. With PVC tape covering the exposed contacts, it just fits inside the transmitter housing.
Would even this be too big to fit inside your handset?

Re: Transmitter for skeleton phone handset
Hi Dave
Many thanks - didn't think of that and it's worked! Still a very tight fit . I actually had to remove the metal terminals ( sawed them off ) and trim round the cicuit board to slightly reduce the size. It then fitted back together with a bit of persuasion! Regards Trev |
