Radio ID needed - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hello,
Can anyone id the remains of this radio. Found at a local flea market yesterday.(Montreal). Believed to be of British origin.
Has an all brown bakelite cabinet, wooden base, permanent magnet speaker.
I find the overall design quite attractive. The radio has quite a small footprint so it would be nice to see how the components were laid out. After all that I think it is just scrap as it stands. I will probably cut up the bakelite for use in my homebrew endeavors.

It looks like a Philips V5A. I'm sure someone must be looking for a good cabinet!

It is a Philips set from the late 30's. I can't recall the model number, but it was famous for having no chassis. The various components being fixed to the Bakelite cabinet.

The Philips V5A and V7A are very similar.

It's a pity not to preserve that handsome cabinet. Maybe you could use it to house a homebrew internet radio built around something like a Raspberry Pi.

Thanks for all your speedy replies.
Radio Museum does gives some good data on these Philips models. I am still not sure of the exact model. Doesn't matter! The one I have does have the drilling for the supposed tone control making it more like a V-7 according to RM.
I suspected that the layout would be a little different from the norm and indeed it was.
I am not sure what to do with it yet. I do like the idea of using some modern innards as the cabinet and dial are in very good condition also although the grill cloth is stained there are no holes in it. Offering the cabinet up for sale is probably not a good idea as shipping costs these day are horrendous. I had mentioned using the bakelite for other projects. I may yet do that.
