Question Re: TV22 Restoration

Hi Andi,

Is the left hand side of you screen compressed a little as well, If so i get a similar effect with my TV12AM. I was going to try different PL38's as Andy has said. It doesn't look like a lack of width, more a width linearity problem.
If I get it resolved before you, I will let you know what I did as it may well be similar for a TV22.

All the best,
Alan.

At present I am having to overhaul two of these TV22 chasses (housed in TUG24 cabinets - also being restored) for a national institution which is shortly to open a new television gallery. There's a time deadline involved and the usual gamut of problems to overcome as I go - this rather removes the 'fun' factor I have to say.

The sets will be left working all day/every day, so needless to say thoroughness is of the essence and I'll be adding extra cooling. Two sets have been ordered because then one can cover for the other if it goes down, as inevitably it will with this amount of use...

Any points that crop up which could be of help to others I'll add here later. In the meantime may I recommend Beery's excellent online resource on TV22 LOPTS and other matters HERE .

From Newnes (Molloy and Poole vol III)...

Picture Centralising

Adjust the height and width controls so that the edges of the picture are visible inside the mask. Slacken the three locking nuts situated round the brass focus-ring support. Adjust the right-hand (rear view) slotted cam for vertical picture shift and the lower cam for horizontal shift. Do not move the focus lever until the three locking nuts have been tightened after centering the picture.

Then it goes on to warn you about not dismantling the focus unit.

Hi Andy,

I did that this morning and it worked a treat. I had already by then maximised the width with C27.

Would there be any chance of a scan of that page for the website and also does any one have the original Bush service data for the TV22?

Thanks

Andi

Default Re: TV22 Restoration, Jelly Pot

How about this for a TV22 lopty swap.
This set has a Thorn Jelly pot in it. The mods were done years ago by Fernseh (from the forum, not the manufacturer).
The set is now in my hands as a possible lopty test bed. My plan was to eventually convert the chassis back to normal, however I now have a spare TV24 chassis for the job and might only need to pinch the wooden legs.
I have not fired it up as it is. I think I might next time I get a chance.

Cheers
Andy

There is? I knew it was going to be in one just didn't know when. I haven't seen it, as the latest issue isnt here yet.

I apologise now for anything I may have missed, as I wrote most of it from memory rather than looking at the notes here, and stuff I had done.

Thanks Paul

PM me your email address, Andi, and I'll email you a scan of it. I won't post a scan here though.
