Old High Value Resistor - 750 Megohms
For your curiosity and possible interest, here is an old 750 Megohm resistor.
A bit higher than normally found. Yes ... I know you can buy specialty high value resistors up to 1 T ohms. The outer glass tube is 120mm long and 15mm diameter. The resistive element is on an inner glass strip with gold bonded connections. It appears that the outer tube is evacuated and then "gettered". Found during my workshop cleanup. I think, ... maybe,...we used this to calibrate a mirror galvanometer, which was then used to check the beam current of a CRT type memory tube used as an MTI delay line in an old (1970) French CSF ATC search radar. Websearch reveals virtually nothing on the company. |
