Tonearm identification
I have a tonearm that is appears to be a 12 inch SME hybrid that I am extremely pleased with but would like to know more about. I have had to sort out its dimensional parameters by measurement to get it positioned and playing well on my Garrard 401, and it tracks my Denon 103 beautifully.
I was told that it was made by a Rolls Royce engineer in Bristol, but I know nothing else at all, except that it is very well made. Any help with its parameters and who made it etc would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Tonearm identification
I think we have spoken about this maker. I wish I could remember his name, but that looks exactly like one of his tonearms. I met him in Kingswood as I recall. He was a great enthusiast of the old Decca FFSS cartridges (as am I) and also made freestanding, heavyweight motor casings to externally drive platters long, long before they became fashionable. He also made simple but effective unipivot tonearms.

Re: Tonearm identification
The counterweights look to be a pair of Rega R200 types. (Or very similar)
