Is there some sort of event going on soon at this little village close to Kendal? I just found three passing references to it on a forum search, but no details. Could somebody enlighten me please?

No, the event is in Leven in Fife. It may be (at least in part) my fault for introducing the spurious "s" elsewhere on the forum. See this thread for details.
