Hi Sparky

I'd be interested to see any circuit diagrams you might have of the German system in order to compare them with the UK variant at the point that the UK system was launched, not sure what that date would have been though.

Currently I'm looking at the 5 marker receivers I have in order to determine the sequence of modifications and I think that the jump from German to UK licensed build is another step worthy of consideration.

As an aside I have found out that the difference between the 'A' and the non-A receivers is just the use of English threads on the Breeze connectors. I'm quite excited by that discovery which I hope is not just down to being a Geek!

Cheers

James,

I am looking for the early Lorenz ground station transmitter information and cct diagrams, the July 1941 aircraft equipment information (including cct diagrams) can be found at
http://www.cdvandt.org/L-Dv-702-1-Heft-195.pdf

The ground azimuth beam transmitter appears to be a 'Leitsrahlsender AS2 or AS3' and the marker beacon transmitter is an EZS2. These are shown in the table (31, 32 and 33) at:
http://www.cdvandt.org/Funkgerate_de...affe-Halle.pdf

An article describing how a late-WW2 fighter aircraft uses the SBA equipment in shown at:
http://www.germanluftwaffe.com/archi...rverfahren.htm

Happy reading!

Martin

Found two of them James! The AS2 transmitter is detailed here:

http://www.cdvandt.org/D-Luft-T-4452...ender-AS-2.pdf

and the EZS2 here:

http://www.cdvandt.org/EZS2.pdf

Cheers,

Hi Martin

Thanks for the links - can't quite get my head around the font they used and I will have to use a little Google translate but I will put those circuits ahead of the Britsh ones. As you say though a lot of reading.

Cheers

The German font is called "Fraktur". The Wikipedia article for it says that its use was prohibited in Nazi Germany by an order dated Jan 3 1941 because of its perceived Jewish origin. The document in the last link was dated Feb 1941, and it was presumably too late to have its font changed.

When I started learning German at school in 1960, our brand new textbooks still used Fraktur for the German text. At school, I never did get to grips with the grammar, but soon picked up Fraktur.

Hi All

Thanks to Andy Y, I've now connected the SBA control Panel to the Main receiver, pic attached and a quick video of the system in operation at:

James, I'm only too pleased to help getting another aircraft system from the WW2 era back together. There simply aren't enough of us with this interest!
