Default Can anyone tell me about this please?

I picked this up some time ago, I don't really know enough about it!

Any thoughts? Thanks.

It was obviously an aerial tuning unit but looks like it has been very much got at and is now a power supply.

Looks like originally it was a plug in Range B (CAY 47151A):

Yes it looks like it's been 're-purposed' and what it says on the back bears no resemblance to what it is now!

Putting GP-7 wireless into Google came up with the following:
https://airandspace.si.edu/collectio...-47150-range-n

Looks like yours was once the band-specific component for the GP-7 transmitter, and was stored in the carrying case which is now the outer case of your assembly...

I'm sure I saw that 'thing' being hawked round a few rallies (Frome, Harwell) in the last year....

It certainly looked great before it was got at.

Have you opened it up to see if it is a power supply?

Looks like it may have a speaker under the hole top left so I'd guess an amp as well maybe?

Do the bottom right sockets say Tx Rx though?

The 2 jack-sockets next to the 'speaker' do suggest perhaps they're for audio input/output.

I'm really intrigued to see what's inside the box. My thought is that it will contain a PSU built to power some item of WWII-vintage stuff (R1155?).

Looks like an earphone has been fitted underneath, - top left?

Intriguing!

David.

Well, it once was a tuning unit but now it's got a cobbled-together power supply in it, complete with a dynamotor.

There should be voltage ratings on the dynamotor. The iron magnetics may just be filter chokes and not transformers.

Last photo shows a small motor inside the unit.
