Wow how did that still work
I had an HMV Record Player in for repair today, the customer said the volume had dropped off. I tried it and it was a bit low but the quality sounded OK but look what I found when I opened it.
A 400 Microfarad Callins with the top off so might have been a bit dried out I am amazed it still worked, it was the speaker coupling cap on the output. Photos included for amusement

That is unusual to see, replacing it must have improved the volume

Re: Wow how did that still work
I certainly improved it, had it on full volume when I powered it up again and got feedback straight away from the deck being clampted down. It was one of those with an AD161/162 pair and it was really nice and loud

Re: Wow how did that still work
They're a well known replace on sight component. Poor sealing but not usually as bad as that.
