Default Butterscotch coloured 706

I thought I'd share some pictures of a once topaz yellow telephone that, in parts, has darkened into a gold-butterscotch colour. I know the ivory models are known for morphing into a pretty disgusting hue but I'm delighted with this one. It has cleaned up really nicely and looks more than half-good. Full working order too.

Nice. The second pic looks a sort of 'off-pink' colour. Almost identical to my U.S. ITT / Kellogg type 2500 instrument, as seen on 'The Rockford Files', etc...

I see what you mean. I moved the phone to the kitchen for the second picture so the different light must have done that.

Great, if you like the taste of acrylic, Fairy Liquid and Novus 2! I'm so pleased with how it turned out, especially as it arrived in a very grubby (but not too scratched) condition. It demonstrates how well-built these telephones were and how the dirt is often superficial.

popular belief is that the brown comes from the Brominated Flame Retardants used in the plastic

Shame the BFRs weren't colourless, or at least white. Might have saved a lot of ivory and blue phones changing into weird colours. Having said that, the blue-into-green look isn't so bad.

I have a Sony 16" TV that's the same colour. I thought it was original, but now I'm beginning to wonder.
