Re: Quad lens - what's it for?
On checking my screw thread book, the standard thread for microscope objectives is 51/64" x 36tpi, Whitworth thread form. The standard "D" mount as used for older 8mm cine cameras is 5/8" x 32tpi, Unified thread form. "C" mount is 1" x 32 tpi., Unified form.
51/64" = 20.2mm approx, and 5/8" = 16mm approx, so measuring the bore should indicate if the lenses are standard microscope or cine, or something completely different. Low power microscope looks more likely from the latest photos. Last edited by emeritus; 19th Apr 2020 at 8:41 pm. |

Re: Quad lens - what's it for?
Ok guys,
Thank you. It’s at the shop, but next time I’m there I’ll bring it home and take some measurements. Vy interesting! ATB Chris

Re: Quad lens - what's it for?
The small apertures mean more depth of field, but a dim image, so bright illumination is needed.

The small snout at the front with an internal thread is an interesting feature.

6, 9, 13, 17.5 may be the focal lengths of the lenses.
