Default Leak Trough Line Stereo caps

Looking at the above tuner also labelled at the rear as a Trough line 3 with the added FM tuner.

The triple 40uF can has 2 sections registering 22uF but someone has been inside it before and added two 22ufs to make them 44uF, the other must have been OK before but is now registering only 12uF.

Will adding a 33uF to the 3rd section work?

I would rather just replace the 3 with new but finding 40ufs is expensive, would 47uFs do?
Gaz.

If caps have changed value, I'd say it's not a good idea to wire caps in parallel with them to restore their original values.

39uF caps are available.

What Graham said.

If it's a smoothing/reservoir can then 47u should be ok, IE not part of some tone or other value critical circuit. Electrolytics are usually -10 +20% or similar anyway.

Yes VERY BAD PRACTICE!! Remember that manufacturers will use the lowest value they can get away with. 47uF should be fine and is within the EZ80 reservoir limit but as stated, 39uF is available if you want to be pedantic about value.

If you don't mind ordering from Germany, Ask Jan First do a very nice triple 50uF at 350V https://www.die-wuestens.de/eindex.htm

Scroll down the capacitor page and look for KON6050.....50+50+50 350V

It's a screw type but can also be used with a 30mm clamp. I've used this company several times and can only say that their capacitors are superb.
