It might be possible to use the spade connectors (slightly butchered?)used in the auto industry and readily available from motor factors. I'll have a look in the morning since I was wondering how to get round the same problem for a Pye Sunrise type MM which has two thin flat "blades". I'll post a result tomorrow if I can find a spare car type connector.

I found a spare spade connector and whilst it could be a basis for a plug for my Pye MM it might be pushing it a bit for connectors with pins as thick as those on an IEC connector.
