Looks like a mid 60's unit to me based upon the type of resistors and especially the transistors on view (for example the OC20* - PNP SI devices ?) and the black painted Mullard OC range.

The stack of blue NiCd cells is what we used to call a "DEAC" cell (after the German manufacturer)..

They date from the 1960s/early-1970s - I recall them being used in some small hand-portable VHF two-way radios.
