Photos of our "stashes"?

The discussion of Josh's collection had me thinking (this is a bad thing); I'd love to see photos of your collections -- not individual radios, but pictures showing the entire thing all at once.

That is, if you can fit them into the camera lens...

I'll snap some of mine later this evening and post 'em. No there's no prize for this.

Well you did ask...! I have attached a few pictures of about a third of my receivers. I also have a purpose built vintage workshop and a large summer house filled to the ceiling with spares and valves. I dare not think what else is stuffed into the loft but other than the HMV 800 radiogramophone, HMV pre war television 900 and my Ultra BLUE FOX, all are stored in my purpose built 'museum' constructed a few years back. Oh..I have just discovered a Marconi 286AC radiogramophone in the hall alcove and a similar Decca RG99 in my bedroom...Oh and an HMV 1114 in the dining room,oh and a..and another.. Hmm, I must be one of the less active collectors on the forum......

Still, if I had kept all of the stuff I have played with it might be a different story.....

I think I must be a bit of oddity here in the forum. I actually like to have wide open spaces in my house. I'm lightyears away from being a zen minimalist but I sometimes feel crowded out by too many things. I have one friend (BVWS but not forum) who has quite a large house but you can't get to half of it because it's so full of stuff. If you were a bit overweight you'd have trouble getting past his front door

Thanks for that Stephanie. Whenever I see these huge collections it makes me feel a bit better about constantly buying more radios

I've seen the small Philips set before in American collections (attached below). It seems to be a distant cousin of the B2G81U discussed here: http://www.vintage-radio.com/recent-...ps-b2g81u.html

It's difficult to photograph my stuff since it's spread around the house and difficult to assemble in one place.

I bought that one on E-bay from seller in Lima, Peru some years ago.

It's for MW and SW. An AC/DC set for either 110 or 220 volts (set for 220 volts Lima voltage).

The set does pick up stations, but it needs repair (there's also a bodge by the mains filter).

Here's some from my small workshop and I also have a number of the more presentable ones dotted around the house. Just as well I don't have room for any more. The small transistor sets were an attempt to save space and I must admit they grow on you, if only for appearance and not sound quality.

I have about 25 or so"heavies", but about 9 or so ,at any one time, are on display/in use in every room.......................the others sit in the cupboard under the stairs until I movew them around again..................................!!!!!!!!!! Im now feeling strongly drawn to 70s music centres........................................... ..............(!) ianj

Hi Stephanie,
It's a Radio Rentals model 222 from around 1959. I think it was made by Baird and based on the model Baird 232 chassis. The case is quite a large chunk of thick plastic and measures about 18x12x7 inches. I had to replace the whole front dial glass area as it was smashed in transit to me. I managed to piece it together and scan it and made a replicate using inkjet water slide transfer paper. This was then sandwiched between two pieces of thin plexiglass and looks quite original - one of my better efforts.

Here is a picture of some of the sets in my collection. The large set on the right is a RGD made in 1947. It is similar in design to the 1939 sets that appeared in the Radiolympia edition of the Wireless World.

The small set is the Philips 441 line receiver for the Eiffel Tower transmissions.

I expect you all know the theme from the film 'JAWS'. I suggest you hum it in your head before viewing the attached pictures........
This is what can happen if you enter the dreaded red room of radio collecting.
The pictures show a line of early post war television consoles. No need for descriptions because I am confident you will recognize them. Another shows the vintage workshop complete with 1920's wiring and glass fronted fuse boxes.....Another,especially for our good friend Howard, a selection of 'transistors'...I said selection...There are many more.. A small shelf of 'mini telly's' and other odd junk from the 60's and 70's, and the final shot is a tiny corner of what should be my summer house which is now impossible to enter.
I will need the help of Miss Marple to enter the loft space..[Did I say space?] Its full of CRT's [If one goes pop and triggers the lot off Hemel Hempstead will seem like a Guy Fawes show..and radio's, spares, portable telly's..Oh dear someone is going to have to sort this lot out when I pass to that big radio service dept somewhere in the ether.....Hope you enjoy my shots! Ive just shown the wife these Pics of your "Stashes" to prove that I am not the only one to have a collection of stuff which does not fit in an ordinary house. {In my case its reel to reel recorders and similar VALUABLE? items}.. She wasn't too impressed .Peter {Reelguy}

Hi,
Noticed the sun shining through your window.Beware the sun will fade dials and discolour plastics,(esp the Bush tr82s) and will rot rubber,I keep my collection in a south facing darkened room.
