Default Ultra 6816 portable Thorn BRC

We had one of these sets when I was younger Infact it was a grey Marconi. I actually like this white one better . It works well apart from I can’t get the linearity just right. I’m probably being a bit fussy and I might leave it as it is unless I’m missing something? . The picture appears to be very slightly stretched on the left slightly increasing after about 5 mins then staying stable.
It also has poor sound but that’s the speaker and I have a spare one .
Any ideas . Thanks Andy

I think that the white coloured versions were called Ultra 'Bermudas' ?

Boots also sold a version with a white cabinet.

I've had the Ferguson version since 1976 and recently had to change the speaker. I've also had a dry joint on one of the rectifiers which caused a hum bar. Apart from those faults it's been a reliable TV.

Try reducing height and adjust for best linearity - it might help to move the raster using
the picture shift magnets. I remember this sometimes helped with the teletext lines.

Check the AC187/188 o/p pair (later versions had silicon) if the speaker is OK.

I have noted the plastics used on Thorn sets can become brittle. (1590/91 chassis)
