Post Looking for Info on Miltary ATU unit ZA56234 MWB/WK/922

I was given this unit ages ago, and at the time it was absolutely mint, sadly I have just found the unit outside with an old tarp over it basically doing nothing, I have brought the unit now back into the dry, emptied the water out of it and am now letting it dry out. Thankfully the unit is still basically OK on the inside, there is a slight bit of aluminum powdering where the damp has got to it but thankfully it's not too bad.

Has anyone got any paperwork for this unit, or even a PDF document/ Any help would be much appreciated, if I am to get it back to how it looked when I was first passed it, and maybe see about using with some of the Ham gear that I have here.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

James

By the look of it then it is designed to handle a fair amount of RF.

ZA number means WW2 or a bit later. Quality bit of kit, as said should handle a lot of RF.

Certain should handle a fair wack, it's built to handle a lot more than the internal antenna connections should allow, the final connection to what must have been a vertical mounted into the glass insulator wouldn't handle much more than 1Kw for too much time, but the internal wiring and straps of silver plated copper that are linking the inductors I would say are capable of handling about 10x that. Everything on the inside is very overkill but I suppose that it had to be, its really one hell of a piece of kit, just wish I knew more about it.

Me thinks tank based operation, certainly wouldn't want to be carrying this around a battlefield.

It's the TX ATU from the Station Radio D11, so from the "Larkspur" era rather than WWII. Still in use when I joined the Army in 1974 and for some years afterwards.

Thanks Hugh for the Info, but I don't suppose that you know where I may be able to find any documentation for this unit?

Looking for anything, User Manual, Service Manual, etc.

Yes there seems not to be too much information on the D11 on the net. I've sent you a PM with one suggestion but an overview of the station here and some more information here
