Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi
Another Blaupunkt question. This time it's about a Blaupunkt audio amp. The question is if anyone knows if this amp can be used without the control unit 7607368010. Doing a google search it appears that this unit is really just a fader if you are using 2 of these amps. However, the amp instructions say to use this if using one or two amps. I just want to use one. If using one amp, is this strictly nessesary? If using one amp, it just looks a convenient way of connecting the radio to the amp. Looking at the control unit pics I found using google, it looks like the control unit just uses speaker outputs A bit of an oddball question, but I'm not sure if I'm missing something! |

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
I wouldn't have thought the control unit was necessary if only one amp. is used. As is often the case, pictures, plus the 76xxxxxxxx part number of the actual amplifier may help. Some also had a model No. beginning with B. Most of which I'm aware had both line and speaker level inputs, the former being in the form of a 7 or 8 Pin DIN socket in which pins 1-5 were wired to the usual DIN standard, with pin 7 being the switched +ve line, and pin 6 the negative line, so connecting a Blaupunkt stereo car radio was made using one of their standard connecting leads.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi
Yes, the model No of the amp is 7607366010. I have attached some photos, so hope that helps in the identification. I have also attached some photos of the control unit model 7607368010. These photos are from google. I do not have the control unit. from the photos, it can sort of be seen that the cable connected to the control unit is terminated in DIN speaker connectors. No 8 pin din. so I presume it is definatley a speaker level input. The inputs are marked VI & VII on the amp, but im not sure where the - output from the radio speaker would go. The speaker outputs from the amp are just marked I & II and do have + & - terminals. |

That control is, as I suspect you know, a Fader, which allows the user to vary the volume level between two amplifiers. As to connecting the speaker outputs of your radio, IIRC they should be taken to the VI & VII inputs. Presumably you have a Stereo radio or radio/Cassette player?

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi
Yes. It is connecting to a Frankfurt. Photo attached. I did think it was simply a fader. The only thing I'm a wee bit unsure on is the lack of - terminal on the VI & VII inputs. This radio has no FM at present. Something I hope to sort out. I started https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=147592 with respect to this. No biggie at the mo as I use the input at rear on my iPhone. Cheers |

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
What the pictures from the Blaupunkt Instruction manual don't make very clear is that the amplifier is switched on & off via the radio's on/off switch, making use of the switched (Automatic Aerial)supply, which is connected to the amplifier's control line as marked on the connecting diagram attached to the amplifier.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi
Yes, that does look the case. The switched positive terminal is beside the permanent positive. I have wired amps in this way before. It also looks like when the amp is powered down there is a pass through so the signal will still reach the speakers. |

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi,
I have found the service sheet for the BP amplifier 7607366, which I'll copy and PM to you if it will be helpful. On the title page it states 'valid for sets from No. 1 370 001', so it may be that you already have a copy. You're right about the speaker switching arrangements. The relay 'H2', which is only energized when the amp. is powered, drops out when the associated radio is switched off. |

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Hi
Thank you. That is very much appreciated. I just want to make sure I get it right at the ore fitting stage. Makes it a lot easier to have a plan of attack before I fit it in my car. |

If there's any doubt, it's worth lashing it up on the bench before starting installation.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Looking at the second picture in post #3, the service info. I have is the same as that, but I can still copy and PM the sheets to you. Dseymo1 makes a good point re; bench-testing the amp. before fitting it.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
If that's the case and you don't have anything more detailed that's fine. I don't think I'll get near this again until the weekend.
Do you have anything for the Frankfurt 7638449010? I'm trying to sort out a no FM issue as detailed in another thread I started. |

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
I have manuals & diagrams for several Frankfurts & Frankfurt Stereos, not sure if the 7638449010 is one of them, but I'lll have a look.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
I've just realized that attachments cannot be sent by PM (should have known - I've been a member for years!), but, if you PM me your email address I'll send you the diagrams, including, if I have it, the service info for the Frankfurt 7638449010. I'm reluctant to post them on the forum as that might be an infringement of copyright, although the manuals in question are maybe 40 years old.

Re: Blaupunkt 7607366010 amplifier connection
Amplifier fitted and working just nice! What a difference it makes.
Simple enough. However, before I fitted it I thought I would look inside. A couple of the caps were bulging at their base, so changed them. It's a really compact unit, so easy to fit in an older car. |
